Every day millions of people travel by Indian Railways in India but when a passenger wants to travel in First AC, Second AC, Third AC or Sleeper class, then that passenger first makes ticket reservation. Because without ticket reservation seats are not available in these categories. But to travel in general coach only ticket is required, there is no reservation. Let us understand in simple language that first come first serve formula works to get a seat in general coach. Because seat reservation is not done in it.

Now there are many such trains running in the country in which all the coaches are AC. No one can travel in these trains without reservation. But general express and passenger trains have general coaches. You must have noticed that First AC, Second AC, Third AC and Sleeper coaches have two doors on one side and two doors on the other side. However, passengers always use the platform side doors but general coaches have 3 doors on one side.

General Coach

There is no reservation in the general coach and as you must have noticed it has 3 doors. The reason behind this is that the seats in sleeper and AC coaches are reserved and the number of passengers is also fixed. Therefore, two doors have been provided for boarding and deboarding but the general coach is completely unreserved. The number of passengers is not fixed. Therefore, for the convenience of passengers, three gates have been provided in it. This design has been made for the convenience of passengers. As you must have noticed many times that unreserved coaches are very crowded, in such a situation when there are three coaches, it becomes easier for the passengers to get off.
