According to the legend, Lord Krishna with your eyes closed Sudama was ruling Dwarka. One day he received information that his beloved devotee Sudama was living in poverty. Lord Krishna went to meet Sudama. Sudama was very happy to see him and took him to his house. Sudama had nothing in his house, not even food. Sudama's wife ground some grains of Kamod (rice) and fed it to Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna was very happy and gave Sudama immense wealth and prosperity.

When Lord Krishna was returning to Dwarka, he felt sad to see Sudama's poverty and closed his eyes. He felt sad thinking that his beloved devotee had to live in such a situation. So he resolved that he would never see anyone poor. And so, he closed his eyes forever.
