According to mythological texts, bells or bells are rung in front of God to awaken the air element. These five main elements of air are Vyana Vayu, Udana Vayu, Samana Vayu, Apana Vayu and Prana Vayu etc. While offering naivedya to the Lord, the bell is rung five times. While offering naivedya, the five elements of air are remembered and the offering is made to the Lord by ringing the bell or bell 5 times. By ringing the bell five times God and the air element are awakened. So that the aroma of the food offered by us can reach God through the air.

How to offer food to God?
Anything offered as bhog like grains, water, dry fruits, sweets and fruits is called Naivedya. Let us tell you that Naivedya should always be offered to God by keeping it on a Nagarvel leaf. Nagarvel leaves are very dear to God, hence he should always be offered Prasad of Nagarvel leaves. Let us tell you that Nagarvel letter was originated from a drop of nectar during Samudra Manthan. That is why he is very dear to the gods and the prasad offered to him is also dear to him.
