Varanasi District Magistrate S. Rajalingam hails from Tamil Nadu and is a 2009 batch IAS officer. He has done B.Tech. S. Rajalingam has previously worked as Joint Magistrate in Banda, DM in Auraiya and Special Secretary in the Dairy Development Department in Lucknow. Apart from this, he has also been DM in Sonbhadra and Kushinagar.
Rajalingam has also worked as Collector of Sultanpur, Municipal Commissioner of Ayodhya, Special Secretary of Basic Education Department, Special Secretary of Urban Development Department.
Voting will be held in Varanasi on June 1
Voting for Varanasi Lok Sabha seat will be held in the last phase on June 1. The process of filling the candidature form for this has started from May 7. It is noteworthy that in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections (Lok Sabha elections 2024), voting is to be held on 96 seats in 10 states on May 13. These 10 states include Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir.
A total of 59.71 percent voting took place in the first phase, 60.96 percent in the second phase and 61.45 percent in the third phase. After 67.25 percent in the fourth phase, voting will be held on 49 seats in the fifth phase on May 20, in the sixth phase on 57 seats on May 25 and in the seventh and final phase on June 1, voting will be held on 57 seats.
