World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom narrowly escaped an Israeli airstrike on Yemen’s Sanaa International Airport on Thursday. The news of death of two people has come to light in this attack. Dr. Tedros was about to board the flight with his United Nations (US) and WHO colleagues when the attack took place. Meanwhile, a crew member and driver of the flight were injured.
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom gave this information in a social media post.
“Our mission to negotiate the release of UN staff detainees and assess the health and humanitarian situation in Yemen concludes today,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom said in a social media post. “We will continue efforts for the immediate release of the detainees.” Earlier, when we were about to take off on our flight from Sanaa, one of the crew members of our plane was bombed.”
He further said, “At least two deaths have been reported at the airport. We will have to wait until the damage to the airport is repaired before we can leave. I, my UN and WHO colleagues are safe. Our condolences to those families.” Whose loved ones lost their lives in the attack.”
‘Workers should not be targeted…’
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the attack and called for respect for international law. Apart from this, he stressed that civilians and humanitarian workers should never be targeted.

Along with this, he also described the air attacks on Sana’a airport, Red Sea port and power plant in Yemen as ‘dangerous’. According to the UN chief, the airstrikes have caused numerous casualties, with at least three people killed and dozens injured. He has asked all parties to stop military action and exercise restraint.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the Israeli Air Force attacked military targets of Houthi rebels in the West Bank and Yemen. These attacks were carried out on Houthi military facilities, which are used for its military activities. Targeted locations include Sanaa International Airport, Hijaz, Ras Qanatib Power Station, as well as al-Hudaydah, Salif and Ras Qanatib ports in the West Bank.
