Which state in the country provides the most government health insurance? You get free treatment for so many lakhs!

Governments, whether at the central or state level, implement many schemes for the welfare of their citizens. States, recognizing the diverse needs of their residents, offer schemes to suit specific needs at different times. The most important aspect of any person's life is his health. Good health gives a person the power to achieve anything, making health related government schemes paramount.

In view of the increasing awareness towards health, people are increasingly opting for health insurance. However, private health insurance is expensive. As a result, people often prefer government health insurance schemes. Rajasthan in particular is the leader in providing the highest coverage under such schemes.

Health insurance coverage up to Rs 25 lakh

In 2021, the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot launched the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Bima Yojana with the aim of prioritizing the health of the residents of the state. Unlike schemes designed specifically for economically disadvantaged families, this initiative extended its benefits to middle-class families as well. Initially cashless medical treatment was offered up to Rs 5 lakh, the coverage was later increased to Rs 10 lakh and extended to Rs 25 lakh. This scheme has proved to be very effective especially for the people living below the poverty line.

accessible to common man

Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Bima Yojana is not limited to economically deprived or Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders. Any citizen of Rajasthan can avail its benefit. However, non-BPL citizens will have to pay an annual premium of Rs 850. This health insurance plan covers over 1500 medical tests and major medical procedures like heart surgery, organ transplant, neurosurgery and cancer treatment.

In short, Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Bima Yojana marks a significant progress by the Government of Rajasthan in ensuring accessible and comprehensive health coverage to all, regardless of their economic status.
