Kharmas is an astrological phenomenon in Hindu beliefs, which holds vital importance in determining auspicious and inauspicious times for various works. When the Sun transits into Pisces, it will be called Meenmas. This mainly happens during March to April. This period, occurring twice a year, marks the entry of the Sun into Sagittarius or Pisces and is known as Dhanurmas and Meenmas. Let us know from which day Kharmas will start and end in March 2024.
What is Kharmas?
Kharmas is also called Guruvadityakal. When Sun God enters the zodiac sign it is called Dhanumas which lasts till December-January. Similarly, when Sun God enters Pisces, it is called Meenmas. Meenmas occurs from March to April. In Kharmas, the Sun is considered busy in serving its planet Jupiter, due to which the Sun's influence on auspicious works reduces. During Kharmas, important functions like marriage, Mundan Sanskar and house warming are prohibited, whereas worship and service of Gods and Goddesses, worship of Mother, Brahmin and Cow etc. can be done.
When will Kharmas start in March?
Sun God will enter Pisces on March 14 at 12.24 pm. With this Kharmas will start. Sun God will remain in Pisces till 9.03 pm on 13th April. It will remain Kharmas throughout the month. According to astrology, the last zodiac sign is Pisces and when the Sun comes into Pisces then it is considered to be Kharmas. Navratri, Holashtak and Holi etc. come during Kharmas only, hence any religious work i.e. puja, havan etc. can be done but no auspicious work can be done. Marriage, housewarming, installation of Kalash etc. cannot be done in Kharmas. According to astrology, Dhan and Pisces are the signs of Jupiter. When the Sun enters Dhan or Pisces, that month is called Kharmas.
Remedies to be taken during Kharmas
Worship and Service – In deeds, one should worship and serve God, Goddess, Vedas, Brahmins, Guru, Cow and Saints. By doing this one gets auspicious results.
Worship of Lord Vishnu There is a tradition of worshiping Lord Vishnu during Kharmas. Goddess Lakshmi is pleased by reciting Vishnusahastranam and Geeta every day in this month.
Purity and penance – Purity of mind and body should be maintained during Kharmas, eating once a day if possible, eating on leaves and sleeping on the ground are also rules.
Staying away from auspicious works – In view of the possible ill effects, it is advisable to refrain from starting auspicious works during Kharmas. In such a situation, marriage, housewarming, mundan, janoi etc. should not be done.
