Cyclone Dana: The Indian Meteorological Department issued a warning on Monday (October 21) saying that the low pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal will turn into Cyclone Dana on Wednesday. After this, within a day the storm will reach the nearby coasts of Odisha and West Bengal.
The Meteorological Department had said that there may be heavy rains in both the states during this period. Apart from this, winds can blow at a speed of 110-120 km per hour. Fishermen in coastal areas have been advised not to venture into the sea this week. Besides, both have also made preparations to deal with this storm.
Schools and colleges have been closed in Odisha due to fear of cyclone. Holidays of government employees till October 26 have also been cancelled. Whereas, the President Draupadi Murmu The three-day Odisha tour has also been postponed. Due to the cyclone, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the coastal areas of Odisha between 23 and 25 October.
Tourists advised not to travel to Puri
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said that in view of the possibility of cyclone, 17 teams of ODRAF have been deployed in 10 coastal districts. Along with this, tourists have been asked to vacate the city. Apart from this, tourists have been advised not to travel to Puri on 24-25 October.

The control room of the Municipal Corporation will operate 24 hours during the cyclone. As a precautionary measure, 250 relief centers and 500 additional relief centers have been set up. Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department Director Manorama Mahapatra said in her statement that the cyclone will become most active on Wednesday. Due to this, there may be heavy rain in Bengal and Orissa.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in East Medinipur, West Medinipur, South 24 Parganas and Jhargram of Bengal and heavy rain at one or two places on October 24 and 25. The Meteorological Department also said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, Purulia and Bankura districts on October 24 and 25.
178 trains canceled
Due to this cyclone, 178 trains passing through Odisha have been cancelled. This includes Howrah-Secunderabad, Shalimar-Puri Superfast, New Delhi-Bhubaneswar, Howrah-Bhubaneswar, Howrah-Puri Superfast, New Delhi-Puri, Kharagpur-Khurda, Sambalpur-Puri Express trains. Apart from this, the operation of trains on Puri-Howrah route has been stopped till 25th October.
