The Punjab State Women Commission has taken strong cognizance of the news published in the media regarding alleged beating of six daughters and their mother by a man in a village in Muktsar.

Giving more information in this regard, Raj Lali Gill, Chairperson of Punjab State Women Commission, said that yesterday in a village in Muktsar district, a man molested a minor girl and when the girl's family protested, the man killed the six daughters of the family and the mother was beaten badly. After this incident, the family was also admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Chairperson Gill said that despite the passage of time, no appropriate action was taken by the concerned police station of District Sri Muktsar Sahib. She said that after the Commission's intervention, the police registered a case against the accused and arrested him.

The chairperson further said that the state government will not tolerate any kind of crime against women. She said that it is the first responsibility of the state government to give every woman her due respect. She said that the police has been instructed to provide all possible help to the victim's family.
