When the dead body was taken to the police post by ambulance, the family members started creating ruckus.

Mumbai: Alleging that a senior citizen died due to late arrival of the government ambulance, his family members created a ruckus outside the police station. The incident occurred outside Pragatinagar police station in Nalasopara-East around 11 am on Wednesday. Due to which a situation of traffic jam was also created.

Gopi Vishwakarma, 57, lived with his family at Shiv Samarth Apartment in Pragathi Nagar, Nalasopara-East. He was suffering from diabetes. His health suddenly deteriorated around 8 am on Wednesday morning. So, his family immediately called 108 and called an ambulance. But, the ambulance arrived late, meanwhile Gopi's health deteriorated further. By the time the ambulance reached around 10:30 in the morning, he was dead.

The family members kept the body of the head of the family in an ambulance and took it to Pragati Nagar police station and after reaching there created a ruckus, due to which there was a huge traffic jam on the road. Family members allege that Gopi Vishwakarma died due to late arrival of the ambulance. Therefore, the police intervened and pacified the crowd and sent the body for post-mortem. Whereas the government hospital is one kilometer away from his residence. Even though the ambulance arrived late, his family had to take him to the hospital by rickshaw or other private vehicle, police said.
