Ludhiana News: Food On Samrala Road, a young man set his girlfriend on fire when she refused to marry him. When his girlfriend was writhing in pain in front of his eyes, the lover set himself on fire. The seriously burnt lover and girlfriend have been admitted to Civil Hospital Khanna. Both were referred to the government hospital in Sector-32, Chandigarh in critical condition. Both are undergoing treatment there. In this incident, the young man is said to be 50 percent burnt and the girl is 40 percent burnt.
According to 27-year-old Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of Samrala, she works as a nurse in Ludhiana. About 5 years ago, she became friends with Harshpreet Singh, a resident of Punjabi Bagh Khanna. She used to visit Harshpreet's house as well. But later she came to know that Harshpreet Singh is a drug addict. Due to which she reduced meeting Harshpreet. Harshpreet was pressurizing her for marriage. She had started harassing her emotionally.
According to Jaspreet Kaur, Harshpreet Singh called her to his house in Punjabi Bagh. With the intention of killing Jaspreet Kaur, he poured petrol from the bike tank on her and then set her on fire with a lighter. Due to the fire, she ran outside and went to the next room. There was a blanket lying there.
He extinguished the fire with a blanket. His body was burnt. Lying on the ground, he called ambulance on number 108. Meanwhile, Harshpreet set himself on fire out of fear. After about 20 minutes, 108 ambulance arrived and took both of them to Civil Hospital Khanna. After first aid there, he was referred to Chandigarh.
Jaspreet Kaur, who suffered severe burns in this incident, also suffered severe burns on both her hands. The city police station went to Chandigarh hospital and recorded Jaspreet's statement. During the process of filing the FIR, when signatures were to be taken to verify the statements, Jaspreet was unable to sign as her hands were burnt. Then she signed by inserting her toe. After which the police registered the FIR.
ASI Hakim Singh, who is investigating the case, said that a case has been registered against the accused Harshpreet Singh under Section 109 (assault with intent to kill) of the Indian Penal Code. At present, Harshpreet herself is also undergoing treatment. After recovery, the accused lover will be arrested.
