In Sharadiya Navratri, the day of Mahashtami and Durganavami are considered to be the most influential. This time in Navratri, Ashtami is on 11 October and Mahanavami is on 12 October 2024.

In the Sharadiya Navratri of the year 2024, Maa Durga will be riding in a palanquin, because this year Navratri is starting from Thursday. If Navratri starts from Thursday, then the Goddess Mother comes to earth riding in a palanquin.

myth

There are not one but two myths behind celebrating Sharadiya Navratri. A demon named Mahishasura pleased Lord Brahma by worshiping him, in which he asked for a boon from Lord Brahma that no god, demon or human in the world could kill him. After this, he wreaked havoc all over the world. During this, a war between Maa Durga and the demon Mahishasura continued for nine days. Ultimately, on the tenth day, the mother killed the demon.

According to another legend, Sharadiya Navratri is celebrated because Lord Rama was about to attack Lanka to save Mother Sita. Before this, he worshiped Mother Bhagwati. Lord Rama worshiped Goddess Mother in Rameshwar for nine days, after which the mother was pleased and blessed him with victory. Then on the tenth day, Shri Ram killed Ravana and won. Since then the festival of Vijayadashami started being celebrated.
