Refused to book a room worth Rs. 65 thousand for Big B

In the year 2007, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was doing the film 'Eklavya: The Royal Guard' with Amitabh Bachchan. Talking about the shooting of the film then, he said that due to the low budget during the shooting, I had to pay 50 thousand rupees. He refused to book a room worth 65 thousand. It was so difficult that if I had booked a room for Big B, I would not have been able to take Saif and Sanjay in the film. Although I could have booked a room for Amitabh as well, but by doing so, the budget of the film would have increased and I would not have been able to make a solo film.

Later gifted a car worth Rs. 4 crore

Vidhu Vinod said, 'When I earned money in my career, I gifted Amitabh Bachchan a Rolls Royce Phantom car.' Vidhu gifted Big B a car worth Rs. 4 crores, although at that time he had a Maruti van.

On his mother's reaction at that time, Vidhu Vinod said, I can never forget that incident. I had gone with my mother to gift a car to Amitabh. After giving him the gift, we came back in a blue Maruti van. Mother used to call Big B tall. I did not have a driver at that time so I was driving the car.

Then Maa asked, 'Did he gift the car to Lambu?' I said yes. Maa said why don't you buy a car for yourself? I said I will buy the car but not now. I said the gifted car must be worth Rs. 11 lakhs. I started laughing because he told me the price of the car was Rs. 4 crores. So when I told him the real price he slapped me and called me a fool. I can never forget this incident.'

Vidhu's last film as a director '12th Fail' was praised not only by critics but also by the audience. Made on a budget of 20 crores, this film has earned 69 crores.
