However, people who already have your phone number will still be able to see it, but you can choose to use your username to initiate further conversations.
Extra layer of security
The report further states that “This PIN will serve as an additional layer of privacy, especially for people you've never interacted with before. You'll be able to choose a PIN of at least four digits that you feel comfortable sharing with others, but it should never include private information, such as your two-step verification code. As a way to limit unwanted messages, others will be required to enter your PIN before contacting you by your username for the first time. Once the PIN is set, users will need to share it with people they want to connect with.”
