AirDrop feature is provided in Apple devices, with the help of which large files can be transferred between two Apple devices without internet. This is a very fast process. Although many other features like Bluetooth are available in the market, but their speed is low. In such a situation, WhatsApp is also bringing a new feature on the lines of Apple AirDrop, with the help of which two WhatsApp users will be able to transfer files without the help of internet. It will be known as Nearby Share. Its testing has started for Android users.

This Nearby Share feature will be end-to-end encrypted. In this, files can be transferred from one device to another without internet connection. However, due to limitations in iOS devices, they will have to scan the QR code for file transfer, which will be given in Android devices. This feature has been spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta update. Currently this feature is available for internal testing. There is no information available about when this feature will be available for the public.

Currently, internet is required to transfer files through WhatsApp. But, transferring files without internet can be a big relief for users. Especially for those users who face network coverage problems in their area.
