India and Kuwait had signed an agreement in 2012 for mutual cooperation in the field of health. Under this, a joint working group on health services was formed. Many meetings have taken place so far. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait believes that the majority of Indians living there are from Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Most of these people are working in the medical field as doctors or nurses.

Indian airlines Air India, Air India Express and Indigo also provide direct flights to Kuwait City. Apart from India’s capital Delhi and financial capital Mumbai, there are direct flights to Kuwait from cities like Chennai, Ahmedabad, Goa, Kochi, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Bengaluru.

According to media reports, unskilled workers from India get a monthly salary of 100 Kuwaiti dinars in Kuwait. These unskilled workers include labourers, helpers and sweepers etc. Apart from this, semi-skilled workers like delivery boys, barbers, security guards etc. get a monthly salary of 100 to 170 dinars. Skilled workers include technical and mechanical workers, who earn 120 to 200 Kuwaiti dinars per month.
It also strengthens India’s economy
Indians working in Kuwait are not only contributing to the progress and economy there but are also strengthening the Indian economy. Indian workers working in Kuwait send a good amount of money from there to their families in India. It is being told that the total money sent from Kuwait to India has reached the figure of 2.1 billion Kuwaiti Dinar i.e. more than 6.3 billion dollars. Apart from this, Kuwait is also a major trading partner of India. In the year 2023-24, India exported $210.32 billion to Kuwait. During the same period, India imported $837.59 billion from Kuwait. Of this, India has imported only $620 billion worth of oil and related products.
