Jaipur, 28 February (HS). The Rajasthan High Court has taken a serious view of the non-payment of pension benefits to retired teachers and employees of Rajasthan University. The court has asked the Joint Higher Education Secretary to appear in person or through the VC on Thursday to explain what action is being taken by the state government on the letters of approval or reports sent by the university. Justice Sameer Jain gave this order on the petition of Mohanlal Gupta.
In the petition, advocate Sogat Roy said that the petitioner retired from the post of clerk from Rajasthan University in 2017, but the university did not pay him pension benefits. The petitioner made several representations to the University for pension benefits, but no action was taken. When this was challenged in the High Court, the High Court had sought a reply from the university. On this, the university said that they have written letters to the state government several times for approval of the pension benefits of the petitioner, but no hearing is being done on them by the state government. On this, it was said on behalf of the petitioner that the state government is adopting an indifferent attitude towards the university's papers, but the petitioner is having to bear the brunt of this. In such a situation, instructions should be given to the state government. Taking this seriously, the court has asked the Joint Higher Education Secretary to appear and give clarification in the matter.
