Western Railway starts garbage collection through pantry cars at 24 stations

Ahmedabad, July 17 (HS). Western Railway is committed to providing a clean travel environment by ensuring better service to its esteemed customers. In this sequence, many efforts are being made to maintain cleanliness in trains. For this purpose, arrangements like clean train stations and on-board housekeeping services have been provided. Apart from this, garbage collection points have also been set up at various places to collect the waste generated from the pantry car during the journey in long distance trains, so that not only the trains and railway premises remain clean, but also the sides of the railway tracks remain clean. These campaigns ensure a clean environment which improves the train travel experience.

According to the press release issued by Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, cleaning of long distance trains is done at the stations where primary maintenance is done. Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, etc. Under this initiative, about 600 trains are cleaned in Western Railway and all the garbage collected during cleaning of the train is disposed of as per the rules. Garbage collection from pantry car is done at 24 stations of Western Railway, where 77600 kg of garbage (including dry and wet waste) is collected from the pantry car and the receipt is signed by the concerned manager for final disposal as per the rules. A total of 175 trains of Western Railway have on-board housekeeping services.
