West Indies created history, became the first team in the world to achieve this feat in T20 World Cup

The 40th match of T20 World Cup 2024 is being played between West Indies and Afghanistan. Through this match, West Indies has made the highest power play score in T20 World Cup. West Indies broke a 10-year-old record. Earlier, the highest score in the power play of T20 World Cup was in 2014.

West Indies scored 92 runs at the loss of 1 wicket in the power play against Afghanistan. Earlier, the record for the highest power play score in the T20 World Cup was in the name of Netherlands. In the T20 World Cup 2014, Netherlands, playing against Ireland in Sylhet, scored 91 runs at the loss of 1 wicket in the first 6 overs in the power play. Now this record has been broken by West Indies.

Nicholas Pooran missed out on a century

In the match being played at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bowl. West Indies, invited to bat first, scored 218 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran played the biggest innings for the team and scored 98 runs with the help of 6 fours and 8 sixes in 53 balls. Pooran missed the century as he returned to the pavilion after being run out in the last over. West Indies batsmen had thrashed the Afghan bowlers right from the beginning.

Both teams won three matches in a row

Group C consists of West Indies and Afghanistan. Both teams will face each other in the last match of the group stage. Both teams have won their last three matches so far. But in today's match, Afghanistan has suffered a crushing defeat by 104 runs.
