West Indies captain changed before T20 WC 2024, command handed over to a strong player

Before the T20 World Cup, West Indies have to play a series with South Africa. For which the team has also been announced. Many big names including Shai Hope, Nicholas Puran are missing from this series. The new captain of West Indies has also been announced for this series. The first match of the series will be played on 20 May. Brandon King has been given the captaincy of the West Indies team for this series. Brendon King has become the 13th T20 captain of the West Indies team.

A special T20 series before the World Cup

Before the T20 World Cup, this series is very important for West Indies and South Africa. In this series, both the teams will get a chance to test their preparations. Players like Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer will not be able to play in this series. Most of the players are currently playing in IPL 2024 and their team has reached the playoffs. Due to which these players will miss the series with South Africa.

Different captains in series and World Cup

The West Indies team for T20 World Cup 2024 has already been announced. While Rovman Powell will captain the team for the World Cup, Brandon King has now been made the captain for the T20 series. Since Powell is currently playing for Rajasthan in the IPL and Rajasthan has also qualified for the playoffs, he will not be able to join the team.
