Jhansi, 04 July (HS). A major incident took place in the North Zone Junior Women's Hockey Tournament being held at Major Dhyanchand Stadium. A video of the inauguration program of this tournament being held at Dhyanchand Stadium is going viral on social media. In the viral video, it is seen that the gate built to welcome the players fell on the goalkeeper of the Jammu and Kashmir team. The goalkeeper narrowly escaped.
Former Hockey India president Narendra Batra, who was present at the inauguration program, has made this video viral on social media. According to his claim, during the inaugural match, when the Jammu and Kashmir team was entering the field, the welcome gate fell on the team's goalkeeper. The goalkeeper also got injured due to this. Fellow players removed the gate and took the player out.
According to Narendra Batra, this negligence could have cost the lives of the players. He said that the President and Secretary of Hockey India should take cognizance of the matter and take action against those responsible.
It is worth noting that the North Zone Junior Women's Hockey Tournament has started in Jhansi from July 01. Teams from many states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh are participating in it.
