Weavers will be encouraged through Sant Kabir State Handloom Award | News India

Jhansi, September 7 (HS). Weavers have shown great enthusiasm for the Sant Kabir State Handloom Award Scheme run by the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh with the aim of encouraging handloom weavers. Under the scheme, weavers will be awarded at the zone level in the first phase and these awarded weavers will participate for the state level award in the second phase. 46 weavers from five districts Jhansi, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Hamirpur and Mahoba included under Jhansi zone have applied for the award scheme.

Out of the 46 applications received in Jhansi region, 39 are from male and 7 from female weavers. The screening committee will examine these applications and after this, an exhibition of handloom products of the finalised applicants will be held. The selection committee constituted under the chairmanship of DM will select the samples displayed in this exhibition and award them first, second and third prizes. The first prize will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 20 thousand, second prize Rs. 15 thousand and third prize Rs. 10 thousand along with shield, robe and certificate. The weavers awarded at the region level will participate as participants for the award at the state level. The weavers selected at the state level will be awarded the first prize of Rs. 1 lakh, second prize Rs. 50 thousand and third prize Rs. 25 thousand.

Superintendent Textiles Tariq Ali Khan said that this award is given to encourage weavers. All textile products applied for the award are handloom. Weavers awarded at the regional level will be participants for the state level award.
