Weather will change suddenly from this evening, IMD has issued a red alert

Weather Update: Heavy rains have caused flood-like conditions in many states of the country. The flood situation in Assam also remains serious. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in Kerala and Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, 15 roads in the state are closed for traffic due to the ongoing rains in parts of Himachal Pradesh. According to officials, after last week's rains, 8 roads in Mandi, four in Shimla and three in Kangra are closed for traffic while 47 transformers are not working. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in the state for the next six days i.e. till July 19, predicting the possibility of lightning at various places.

Floods have hit over 750 villages in Uttar Pradesh with rivers flowing above the danger mark and eight people have died in rain-related incidents till this evening.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of rain in 23 states of the country today. The weather will change immediately from this evening. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected at isolated places over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Red alert has been issued due to heavy rains in these states. According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Nagaland, Gujarat state, Kerala and Mahe today. Heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Marathwada, Telangana, North Interior Karnataka. Therefore, orange alert has been issued in these states.

According to IMD, thunderstorms and lightning are likely at various places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra states today. Apart from this, the wind speed will be 45 km in many parts of west-central and east-central Bay of Bengal.

According to IMD, Northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Northwest Arabian Sea, East-Central Arabian Sea and parts of West-Central Arabian Sea, northern parts of South Arabian Sea, areas off the coast of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala Lakshadweep, Gulf of Mannar and Pacific coast, South and Central Bay of Bengal, North Andhra Pradesh coast, North Andaman Sea are expected to receive rains and strong winds.
