Weather Update: Severe heat wave in 5 states of India including South-Central, IMD issues heatwave alert

Weather Update: The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rapid increase in heat in a total of five states of Central India and South. There is a possibility of heat wave in these states. Among the states for which IMD has issued an alert, some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will be affected by the cyclone.

March 31 was the hottest day in Delhi. On this day a temperature of 35.2 degrees was recorded, which was the hottest day of the season. It is likely to increase further in the coming days. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for many states.

According to the latest update of the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain clear at night. There is a possibility of strong winds. On the other hand, heatwave alert has been declared in many states including Karnataka, Raisina, Telangana. According to the latest IMD bulletin, below normal rainfall is likely over the east and west coasts, parts of east and northeast India and west central India.

Also, the minimum temperature is likely to be normal or above normal in most parts of the country. Except for a few isolated pockets over north-east and north-west India, minimum temperatures are likely to remain normal or below normal.

The IMD said average rainfall across the country during April 2024 is likely to be 88-112% of normal. Normal or above normal rainfall is expected over most parts of northwest India and many parts of central India, northern Peninsular India, parts of eastern and northeast India.
