Weather changed in Delhi-NCR early in the morning: Rain started with strong winds, IMD issued new alert of thunderstorm and showers.

The weather has taken a sudden turn in the national capital Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR). The people of Delhi, who have been suffering from scorching sun and humid heat for the last several days, woke up to a cold and strong wind in the morning. Amidst the loud thunder and lightning, rain has started in many areas of Delhi including Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram.

Due to this sudden rain and gusty winds in the morning, coolness has dissolved in the atmosphere and a significant drop in the temperature has been recorded. While the people leaving for office, school and college have got relief from the humidity, on the other hand the morning commute has also been partially affected due to waterlogging and slow crawling traffic on many busy routes.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh weather bulletin for Delhi-NCR and advised to remain alert:

• Strong Wind Warning: According to the Meteorological Department, during the transmission of clouds, there is a possibility of dusty and stormy winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour (gusts up to 60 km/hour at some places).

• Rain Forecast: There will be dense dark clouds in the sky throughout the day and intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected till afternoon.

• Temperature Trend: Due to rain, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 to 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 24 to 25 degrees Celsius.

The effect of this change in weather is being seen simultaneously in the entire capital and satellite cities:

• Central and New Delhi: Rain accompanied by strong winds was recorded in the morning around Connaught Place, India Gate, ITO and Mandi House.

• South and West Delhi: There is continuous light to moderate rain in Hauz Khas, Saket, Dwarka, Janakpuri and Uttam Nagar.

• Noida and Ghaziabad: Vaishali, Indirapuram, Noida Sector-18, Sector-62 and Greater Noida West have been experiencing dense clouds and showers since morning.

• Gurugram and Faridabad: Showers with strong gusts of wind continue in Sohna Road, Cyber ​​City, Golf Course Extension and Ballabhgarh area of ​​Faridabad.

According to meteorologists, this seasonal change has occurred due to a Western Disturbance over North-West India and the monsoon trough shifting closer to Delhi. Along with this, the confluence of moist winds coming from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal is taking place in the plains.

Such rainfall is considered normal before the withdrawal of the south-west monsoon in late September. This seasonal activity is also expected to improve the air quality (AQI) of the capital and reduce pollution levels.

In view of slippery roads and reduced visibility in the morning, Delhi and Noida Traffic Police have issued advisories:

• Avoid waterlogged places: Use alternative routes due to possibility of water accumulation in lower parts of Minto Bridge, Dhaula Kuan Underpass, Ashram and Ring Road.

• Stay away from trees and hoardings: Due to the possibility of strong storm, do not park your vehicle under weak trees, electric poles and big advertisement boards.

• Keep vehicles slow: During rain, two-wheeler and four-wheeler drivers should keep headlights on and drive at a safe distance.
