Pakistan-Afghanistan: There is a dispute going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan for some time. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given a big statement amid increasing tension and violent incidents on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. “Pakistan cannot move forward without destroying the Taliban,” he said during an event of the Special Investment Facility Council (SIFC) committee in Islamabad.

Mentioned the attack on Afghanistan

Meanwhile, he recently mentioned the issue of killing of Pakistani soldiers by Taliban. He said, ‘Something happens every day. Be it 10 officers or five officers, the martyrdom of Frontier Corps, Police or Army personnel is the biggest sacrifice. We should not only respect them but also show the country that defeating the Taliban monster is our main goal.

What is the controversy?

Let us tell you that on December 24, 2024, the Pakistani Army had carried out air strikes at many places in Paktika province of Afghanistan. In which 46 people were killed, mostly women and children. These air strikes were carried out by Pakistan to destroy the bases of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Afghanistan described the attack as a violation of sovereignty and vowed to retaliate. After which, on December 28, Taliban attacked Pakistani military posts and killed 16 Pakistani soldiers.

Deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan

This violence highlights the deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Both countries have accused each other of harboring terrorists responsible for cross-border terrorism.

How did TTP become a big threat to Pakistan?

Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has emerged as a serious challenge and threat to Pakistan. This change gave TTP an opportunity to regroup and strengthen, after which attacks on Pakistani security forces intensified. TTP has carried out more than 1200 attacks in Pakistan in the last few years.

What is the purpose of TTP?

The TTP aims to overthrow the government of Pakistan and create an Islamic Emirate based on its ideology of Sharia law. To achieve this objective, it is also carrying out violent incidents like suicide attacks and target killings, due to which the Pakistani government is troubled.
