Justin Trudeau on Nijjar killings: Amidst allegations of interference by other countries in Canadian elections, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has once again spewed venom against India without taking its name.
Appearing before the commission investigating alleged interference in Canadian elections, Trudeau denied allegations of any foreign interference in the last two elections.
Earlier, Canadian media had alleged that India was also among the countries allegedly interfering in the 2019 and 2021 elections. On the other hand, the report of the Canadian spy agency states that there is no evidence that India played any role in this election, but China is suspected of interfering in the election.
However, during the hearing before the commission, Trudeau mentioned the deaths of Nijjar terrorists from India and Khalistan. He said the Government of Canada is committed to the safety of the people of Canada, including the killing of Hardeep Singh.
Trudeau accused the Conservative Party of adopting a stance favorable to the policy of the Indian government. But the principle of my government is that anyone from the world who immigrates to Canada has all the rights of a Canadian citizen. After this, the country which they have left cannot force them. After the murder of Nijjar, the world saw how we stand with such people. We raised this issue in Parliament. It reflects our government's commitment to protecting the rights and freedoms of Canadians. Our government has always stood by minorities in Canada to protect their right to speak, even if the countries they come from may not like it.
During the hearing before the Commission, Trudeau was clearly pointing towards India. Last year, Trudeau had soured relations between the two countries by accusing India of being involved in the Nijjar massacre. There is still a lot of tension on the diplomatic front between India and Canada.
