WBJEE Decentralized Counseling 2026 bugle: Registration window open from 7th September, opportunity till 8th September


Big and relief news has emerged for the students who missed admission to B.Tech and B.Pharm courses in top engineering, technology and pharmacy colleges of West Bengal. West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has formally started the official process of ‘Common Online Decentralized Counselling’ for the academic session 2026-27 from today, 7th September 2026. According to the revised schedule released by the Board, candidates have been given a brief opportunity of only two days under this special round to register online, update the necessary details and do ‘choice filling’ of their preferred colleges and branches. This registration window will remain active till the night of tomorrow, 8 September 2026.

Despite completion of three regular rounds of centralized counselling, hundreds of key seats remained vacant in prestigious government universities, government engineering colleges and private self-financed technical institutes of the state. To fill these remaining seats, the board has conducted this special decentralized online round. The state technical education department has clarified that this is the last and decisive opportunity for admission in the current academic session, after which no new round will be conducted.

This time, under the Corrigendum and revised notification issued by the WBJEE Board, some major and student-friendly changes have been made in the eligibility rules for Decentralized Counseling:

  • Opportunity for already enrolled students also: As per the latest amendment of the Board, those candidates who have already taken provisional admission in any college through centralized online counseling have also been made eligible to participate in this decentralized counseling for upgradation of their college or branch.

  • New candidates who did not get seats: All students who have valid General Merit Rank (GMR/PMR) or JEE Main 2026 scorecard of WBJEE 2026 and were not allotted any seat in the previous three rounds can apply directly for this round.

  • Domicile and non-domicile categories: Domicile students of West Bengal are eligible for reserved (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD) and unreserved seats in both government and private institutions. Whereas candidates from other states (Non-Domicile) can claim for All India Open seats of state universities and private engineering colleges.

  • Educational qualification: It is mandatory for the candidate to have minimum 45 percent marks (40 percent for reserved category) in Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science with Physics and Mathematics in 12th (10+2) board examination.

Most prestigious institutes of the state Jadavpur University There is a chance for admission on dozens of vacant seats in Computer Science, IT, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical, Chemical and Printing Engineering. Apart from this, seats for Core Engineering and Emerging Technologies (AI & Data Science) in top private institutions like Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), Kalyani Government Engineering College (KGEC), Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC), University College of Science and Technology (Calcutta University) and Heritage Institute of Technology are also included in this matrix. Experts suggest that candidates should study the seat matrix thoroughly before filling the choice filling form, so that they choose only those colleges and branches where there is a real possibility of getting a seat as per their rank.

The entire process of WBJEE Decentralized Counseling 2026 is being conducted through digital and online medium. Interested candidates can successfully submit their application by following the easy steps given below:

  1. Visit the official portal: First of all visit the official website of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee.

  2. Click on the registration link: Click on the link ‘Online Decentralized Counseling of WBJEE-2026 Registration & Choice Filling’ available on the homepage.

  3. Enter login credentials: Login by entering your WBJEE 2026 application number, roll number, password and security pin (captcha) shown on the screen.

  4. Update Profile and Academic Details: Check and update your personal information, 12th subject wise marks, domicile status and category details carefully.

  5. Payment of Counseling Fees: Pay the prescribed non-refundable registration fee (approximately ₹250 to ₹500) online through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI to participate in the counseling process.

  6. Choice filling and selection of preferences: Add your preferred colleges and engineering/pharmacy branches in priority order based on seat matrix. You can fill as many choices as you want.

  7. Choice Locking and Printout: After thoroughly checking your preferences, ‘Lock’ the choices and take a printout of the filled application form and choice slip and keep it safe for future reference.

Students who will be allotted a new seat after the release of seat allotment will have to deposit a seat acceptance fee of ₹ 5,000 online to confirm their seat. If a student has already paid fees in the centralized round, his/her fee will be adjusted in the new institute.

After seat allotment, it will be mandatory for the students to appear in person at the concerned college or university and get their original documents verified (Physical Verification). If any one document is found missing or incorrect at the time of verification, the allotment may be canceled immediately. Therefore, students should prepare in advance all the original certificates given below and at least two sets of their self-attested photocopies:

  • WBJEE 2026 or JEE Main 2026 Rank Card and Admit Card

  • Provisional Seat Allotment Letter of Decentralized Counseling

  • Online Payment Receipt of Seat Acceptance Fee

  • Age certificate (10th admit card or birth certificate)

  • Original mark sheets and passing certificates of 10th (Matriculation) and 12th (Intermediate)

  • Original Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority (for residents of West Bengal)

  • Reservation Certificate (SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, EWS if applicable)

  • Disability Certificate (PwD Certificate, if applicable)

  • Family Income Certificate (Mandatory for TFW category candidates)

  • Aadhar Card, PAN Card or valid government photo identity card

  • 5 latest color passport size photographs

  • Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner
