Kathmandu, 02 August (HS). The Chinese ambassador to Nepal is often surrounded by controversies due to his statements and posts on social media. The latest case is his insensitive statement regarding the bus accident that happened in Nepal last month, due to which he is being severely criticized.
To find the buses that fell into the river, the NDRF team of Nepal and India had put a 20 kg magnet, which was lost. Tweeting the news in this regard, China's ambassador to Nepal Chang Son wrote, 'First find the magnet, then search for the bus.' Social media users strongly criticized the Chinese ambassador on this tweet and asked him to apologize for such an insensitive tweet in the hour of grief, but the Chinese ambassador has not apologized till now, instead he kept arguing in his defense.
Now this matter has escalated. When the MPs raised this act of the Chinese ambassador in the House, the Parliamentary Committee on International Relations warned the Chinese ambassador. In the House of Representatives, MPs from both the ruling and opposition parties have strongly criticized the Chinese ambassador. Nepali Congress MP Ramhari Khatiwada said that the Chinese ambassador who made fun of the death of 65 people cannot be criticized enough. He said that foreign ambassadors should express their views within their limits.
Similarly, opposition MP Shishir Khanal of the National Independent Party said that the insensitive ambassador should be summoned immediately and given a warning. MP Khanal has demanded from the Foreign Minister that he should be summoned and asked for an explanation for making fun of the work of the rescue team engaged in relief and rescue operations after the tragic accident in Nepal and making such a cheap statement.
Regarding this insensitive tweet of the Chinese ambassador, the chairman of the International Relations Parliamentary Committee, Rajkishore Yadav, said that the Chinese ambassador has absolutely no right to joke about death in this manner. He said in the committee meeting that the Chinese ambassador should control his speech. If he does not improve himself, then the government should take strict action against the Chinese ambassador.
