'Wakf Board is captured by mafia' Kiren Rijiju told the opposition why the Wakf Board Bill is necessary

Wakf Amendment Bill: The government today introduced the Wakf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha amid huge uproar from the opposition. Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced a bill to amend the law governing the Wakf Boards, after which the opposition created a lot of uproar and obstruction. It also accused the government of snatching the rights of minorities.

After the allegations of the opposition, Kiren Rijiju responded by giving information as to why this bill is necessary. After this, Kiren Rijiju presented a proposal to hand it over to the Joint Committee (JPC) of Parliament.

Wakf board is under the control of mafia

• Kiren Rijiju further said that the opposition is trying to mislead Muslims. Many MPs have personally told me that many Waqf boards are under the control of the mafia, however they are now opposing the bill under pressure from the party.
• The Law Minister further said that the Waqf Act 1995 has not been successful in fulfilling its objective. We want to tell the Congress that the amendment bill is being brought to complete the work that you could not do.
• Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said in the Lok Sabha regarding the Waqf Bill that there is no interference in religious freedom.
• Rijiju said that no article of the Constitution has been violated. Accusing the Congress, the Union Minister said that the Waqf Act, 1995 has not succeeded in fulfilling its objective. We want to tell the Congress that these amendments are going to complete the work that has not been completed yet.

No interference with religious freedom

• Responding to questions raised by opposition members, the Minority Affairs Minister said that the Bill does not interfere with any religious freedom and does not violate any article of the Constitution.
• He said that the Wakf amendment was not introduced in the House for the first time. This bill was introduced for the first time in the year 1954 after independence. After that many amendments were made.
• Rijiju said that Articles 25 to 30 cannot interfere in any religious institution. He said that no one's rights are being taken away, rather women and children have been given rights. I am not a Muslim, but a minority.
• Kiren Rijiju said that people with administrative skills should be brought into the Waqf Board. After the passage of this Act, no woman or child will be deprived of justice.
