Voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 today, voting on 96 seats in 10 states.

Voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 has started at 7 am today. In this phase, voting is taking place on 96 seats in 10 states and union territories. In the fourth phase of general elections, voting is being held on all 25 seats of Andhra Pradesh, 17 of Telangana, 13 of Uttar Pradesh, 11 of Maharashtra, 8 of West Bengal, 8 of Madhya Pradesh and 5 of Bihar. People have been reaching the polling station since morning to vote.

Among the major candidates contesting in the fourth phase of elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is contesting from Kanauj Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. Central government minister Giriraj Singh is contesting from Begusarai Lok Sabha seat of Bihar. Nityanand Roy is contesting from Ujiarpur, while senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is a candidate from Behrampur seat in West Bengal. Pankaja Munde is contesting elections from Beed in Maharashtra. Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM is contesting elections from Hyderabad. In Andhra Pradesh, Congress State President YS Sharmila is trying her luck from Kadapa Lok Sabha seat. Mahua Moitra of Trinamool Congress is contesting from Krishnanagar, West Bengal.

1717 candidates from 10 states/union territories are contesting in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024. The average number of candidates contesting in a parliamentary constituency for the fourth phase is 18. In the fourth phase, there are more than 17.7 crore voters at 1.92 lakh polling stations. Of these, 8.97 crore are male and 8.73 crore are female voters. For the fourth phase, there are more than 12.49 lakh registered voters above 85 years of age and 19.99 lakh disabled voters who have been given the option to vote at home.

A total of 4661 flying squads, 4438 static surveillance teams, 1710 video surveillance teams and 934 video surveillance teams are under 24-hour surveillance to deal strictly and swiftly with any type of voter movement. Talking about security, a total of 1016 interstate and 121 international border posts are keeping a close watch on any illegal flow of liquor, drugs, cash and free goods. Strict surveillance is being maintained on sea and air routes.
