BJP hopes to benefit
In the Rajya Sabha elections, the ruling BJP has 28 out of 56 seats – including one seat vacated by party MLA Kirori Lal Meena, who has now become a minister in Rajasthan. After this election it will have at least 29 seats. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, the opposition Bharat Alliance may get two seats, as SP can increase its number of seats from one to three.
Close contest on one seat in Uttar Pradesh
In this election, there is a close contest on three seats in two Congress ruled states and one seat in Uttar Pradesh. Sources have indicated that there is every possibility of cross voting by opposition MLAs, which the Congress and the Samajwadi Party are keeping a close eye on.
