Here, on Saturday, 25th, no vote has been cast at booth number 35 and 36 of Saraikansarai polling station of Abholi block even after four hours of voting for the sixth phase. The villagers are angry due to the absence of a railway gate and have decided to boycott the voting.
District Panchayat President Anirudh Tripathi, District Election Officer Vishal Singh, Superintendent of Police Meenakshi Katyayan have also reached to persuade the villagers to vote. Not a single vote has been cast since morning, nor has any polling agent been appointed. While District Election Officer Vishal Singh claims that voting has begun.
Apart from this, voting boycott is also being seen in Hardua village adjacent to this village. Only 07 votes have been cast here till 10.30 am. The villagers have mobilized and boycotted the demand of building a railway underpass.
Villagers say that due to absence of railway gate, villagers have to travel a distance of 14 km to reach block, police station, hospital etc. Villagers have been demanding this for the last 50 years, but the demand has not been fulfilled. DM, SP and other senior officials reached the spot. They tried to convince the voters. Police is going around the colony and appealing and pressuring the villagers to vote. But the villagers are still refusing to vote. District Panchayat President Anuruddha Tripathi has also reached the spot, but the villagers are still not agreeing.
District Panchayat Chairman Anirudh Tripathi said in a conversation that we are requesting the villagers of Saraikansarai village to vote. Their problem will be raised to the top. Right now we are in the village and talks are going on with the villagers.
District Election Officer Vishal Singh said that an appeal was made to the villagers earlier as well. But today it has come to light that they are boycotting the vote. Everyone has been asked to vote. It has come to light that some people are stopping people from voting. In such a situation, a warning of action has also been given. The District Election Officer claimed that voting has started in Saraikansarai and Harduwa. Whereas not a single vote has been cast in Saraikansarai village till 11:30 am.
