Moscow, March 15 (HS). Voting for the presidential election has started in Russia. In the next three days, citizens will elect their new President for the next six years. For the first time, residents of Donbass and Novorossiya will take part in this election. Details of the start of voting have been given in a report by Russia's official news agency Tass.
Voting is currently taking place in polling stations in the Far Eastern regions of Russia, especially Eastern Kamchatka and Chukotka. Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov was the first to vote. This is the eighth election in the history of modern Russia. The candidates in the fray are Vladislav Davankov (New People's Party), outgoing President Vladimir Putin, LDPR Party's Leonid Slutsky and Nikolay Kharitonov (Communist Party of Russia).
For the first time in Russia, voting for the presidential election will last for three days. According to Ella Pamfilova, chairwoman of the Russian Election Commission, more than 94,000 polling stations in the country will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Thailand will be the first country where polling stations will open on the territory of the Russian Consulate General in Phuket.
For the first time, voters have been given the option of electronic voting. Online voting facility has been provided in 29 regions, including Moscow. More than 4.7 million people have applied to vote online. The results of online voting will come first.
