Voting at 8963 booths in four Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand, will be monitored through web casting: CEO

Ranchi, May 24 (HS). State Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said that all 8963 booths of four parliamentary constituencies of the sixth phase will be monitored through web casting from the control room. The District Election Officer will perform this responsibility from his control room. 4-D cameras have been installed inside and outside every booth. Basic facilities have been restored at all the booths.

Ravi Kumar was addressing a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva on Friday. He informed that polling officials have reached the booths. Paramilitary forces have been deployed at all the booths. The Election Commission will also monitor the voting speed with the help of web casting and polling officials will be instructed as per the need. Polling officials have also been trained for speedy voting so that voters do not have to wait long in queues to vote.

Ravi Kumar appealed that everyone should enthusiastically participate in the election festival with their family and vote and also motivate their neighbours and acquaintances to do so. He said that the sixth phase has the highest number of voters at 82,16,506 compared to all other phases. The maximum number of voters in this is 22,85,237 in Dhanbad parliamentary constituency while the lowest number of voters is 18,64,660 in Giridih parliamentary constituency.

Ravi Kumar informed that out of a total of 8963 booths, 186 booths will be managed by women and 22 by youth. There are a total of 15 unique booths which have been developed in a special way. There are a total of 290 third gender voters in the sixth phase of elections. Of these, 133 third gender voters will vote in Jamshedpur, 80 in Dhanbad, 69 in Ranchi and 8 in Giridih. He has asked every institution to give paid leave to its employees on the polling day i.e. 25th May as per the rules and motivate them to vote. He also said that institutions with compulsory service should also provide voting facilities to their employees.
