Votes will not be cast again at boycotted polling stations in Nawada: Prashant

Nawada, April 20 (Hindus). Nawada DM cum District Electoral Officer Prashant Kumar has said that despite vote boycott at Koilja and Daniya polling stations of Govindpur assembly constituency of Nawada district, re-polling will not be conducted. Despite all the arrangements of the district administration, if voting is not done voluntarily then it definitely becomes the responsibility of the voters. He was addressing the press conference organized in the meeting room of the Collectorate on Saturday.

He said that it is a matter of great happiness that the voting was conducted in a peaceful manner. Till date, no untoward incident has been reported in any corner of the district. He said that in Nawada Lok Sabha constituency which has 6 assembly constituencies, the highest number of votes were cast in Rajauli assembly constituency at 46% and the least votes were cast in Warsaliganj assembly constituency at 40.69%.

DM said that 44.28 percent voters in Barbigha assembly constituency, 43.14 percent in Nawada assembly constituency, 44.12 percent in Hisua assembly constituency and 41.3 percent voters in Govindpur assembly constituency have exercised their franchise. DM said that out of 20 lakh 6 thousand 124 voters, 8 lakh 66 thousand 0735 voters have exercised their franchise. Which is overall 43.02%. In the Lok Sabha constituency, 42.64 percent men have exercised their franchise. Similarly, 42.15 percent women have also exercised their franchise.

DM said that due to the polling station being far away from the village, voting rights were not exercised at Daniya 328 polling station. After convincing the villagers around 3:30 pm, 20 votes were cast. At Koyalja polling station of Govindpur block, voters did not cast even a single vote. There too there was anger among voters regarding road construction. DM cum District Electoral Officer said that talks have been held with the Election Commission. The Election Commission clearly believes that all the arrangements for conducting the elections have been made properly by the Commission, but if the voters, for their own reasons, find it appropriate to exercise their franchise. Do not understand. This is not the responsibility of the district administration. This is the reason why re-polling will not be conducted at those places.

In response to a question about low voting percentage, the DM said that next time these things will be taken care of. Journalists questioned that the BLO did not deliver the voter slips to the houses. Due to which the voters did not cast their votes. DM said that this will definitely be kept in mind. He said that due to heat and heat wave, very few voters came out of their homes but there is a need to run a better awareness campaign in the society. In-charge District Public Relations Officer Sanjay Kumar was also present in the press conference.
