Voter Awareness Forum (VAF) of IIT (ISM) organized a voter awareness program under the leadership of Professor JK Patnaik, Director of the Institute, at the Penman Auditorium of the Institute on Monday evening in the presence of Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner Raviraj Sharma as the Chief Guest.
Several programs were organized including staging of street plays, details about usage of Voter Helpline App and Voter Registration Form 6. With the welcome address delivered by Professor Rajni Singh, Dean (Corporate Communications), who apprised the gathering of other Deans, HODs, faculty members, officers, staff and students of the Institute on the importance of exercising the franchise to strengthen democracy. Professor Sanjay Modal, Associate Dean (Student Activities) during his address gave details of the awareness campaign being carried out by the Institute for the general public inside the campus as well as outside the Institute in collaboration with the District Administration.
He said that a group of 16 students of the institute in collaboration with the team of Systematic Voters Education for Electoral Participation (SVEEP) cell of the district administration staged a street play near Randhir Verma Chowk on March 15 this year.
Similar street plays are being staged across the campus including residential areas besides academic centers as part of the awareness campaign.
The institute has also installed selfie cutouts, banners and posters with different slogans across the campus, with an aim to educate people about the importance of participating in the electoral process and motivate them to exercise their franchise. To do.
An oath taking ceremony was also organized on the occasion, during which the participants of the program led by Raviraj Sharma took oath to vote and encourage their eligible family members during the Lok Sabha elections to be held in Jharkhand on 26th May. .
