Vote for strengthening democracy, CM Sukhu appeals

Shimla, July 9 (HS). Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has appealed to all the voters to vote in maximum numbers in the by-elections to be held on Wednesday, July 10 for the three assembly seats of the state, Hamirpur, Dehra and Nalagarh. He has said that all voters should cast their votes for the strengthening of democracy. He said that all voters should participate enthusiastically in the great festival of democracy and support truth and honesty by voting in maximum numbers in the by-elections.

The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP conspired to topple an elected government using money power and got the independent MLAs to resign as part of a deal. This is the first time in history that independent MLAs sat on a dharna and went to court to get their resignations accepted. He said that the independent MLAs have sold themselves to the political market set up by the BJP and forced these by-elections on the people, so it is time to teach them a lesson.

Sukhu said that this election is between truth and falsehood, honesty and dishonesty and I have full faith that the voters will go with truth and honesty. He said that the number of Congress party MLAs in the Vidhansabha is 38 and after the results of these by-elections, the number of Congress MLAs will reach 41. He said that the Congress government has three and a half years of tenure left and the voters of Nalagarh, Dehra and Hamirpur will choose development.

Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that in the last one and a half years, the Congress government has added a new chapter to public welfare and has made plans to solve the problems of the common man. He said that the Congress government has given OPS to the employees, given a pension of Rs 1500 per month to women, to stop which Jairam Thakur and other BJP leaders approached the Election Commission.

He said that we have started education in English medium from class 1 in all government schools, created a startup fund of Rs 680 crore for unemployed youth and Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to give minimum support price on milk. He said that the Congress government has increased the rate of cow milk from Rs 32 to Rs 45 and buffalo milk from Rs 47 to Rs 55. Apart from this, four percent DA has been given to the employees and Rs 1000 diet money has been given to the police personnel.
