Hazaribagh, 3 August (HS). The delegation of the University Vocational and Technical Teachers Association met the University Registrar on Saturday and handed over a memorandum of their demands. In the memorandum, the University administration has been asked to fulfill eight pending demands. For this, the memorandum has been handed over to the University several times, but the University is not taking any action on it.
The union has said that if the university does not take any action on the demands within a week, then the union will protest. In the eight-point demand letter, the university has been asked to implement regular salary increment (seventh pay scale) for teachers of self-financed courses as per UGC guidelines.
The demands include implementation of dearness allowance, implementation of casual leave as prescribed by Jharkhand University Bye-laws as per UGC norms, implementation of earned leave, implementation of medical leave, facilitating professional development opportunities including participation in conferences, workshops and seminars recommended by UGC and other regulatory bodies, providing necessary support for research activities and publications, ensuring adequate infrastructure including well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, libraries and other essential facilities as per AICTE and NCTE standards, ensuring timely disbursement of medical insurance coverage, provident fund, gratuity and retirement benefits.
