The Singapore government has given a huge discount to Indian passport holders. Now you 96 hours (four days) for up to visa-free transit (Visa-Free Transit) facility.

This means that if you are not making Singapore your final destination, but are going to a third country and want to stop over in Singapore for 4 days in between, you do not need to obtain a visa in advance for transit!

What is 96-hour visa-free transit? (Visa-Free Transit Facility – VFTF)

The visa-free transit facility is a great gift for travelers who are traveling between two different countries and have Singapore en route.

  • Condition No. 2 (Valid Visa): you have that valid third country visa Or have a Permanent Resident Permit for the country you are traveling to.
  • Duration: You can stay in Singapore for a maximum of 96 hours (four days). During this period you can travel all over Singapore.
  • Traffic: You need to reach Singapore airport and depart from there.

To avail this facility, you usually need to have a valid visa or permit from a reputable country like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, or the UK. The Singapore Government considers this a guarantee of the legality of your travel.

How will this work?

  1. Document display: You will show your Indian passport, valid visa/permit to your next destination (third country) and ticket for your onward journey (which is within 96 hours).
  2. VFTF Stamp: The immigration officer will stamp your passport with ‘Visa-Free Transit’.

This rule could prove to be a game changer for both Indian tourists and businessmen, who often want to avoid costly visa fees and long processing times.
