Vis by-election: Congress candidate is ahead by 13500 votes in Gujarat’s Vav seat.

Palanpur, 23 November (HS). In the 15th round of counting of votes in the by-election of Vav assembly seat of Banaskantha district, Congress party candidates are leading by 13500 votes. Gulab Singh Rajput of Congress got 70 thousand votes while Swaroopji Thakor of BJP got 56500 votes. Mavjibhai Patel, who rebelled against BJP and became an independent, has not been able to do anything special in the elections. Mavjibhai Patel has got 19128 votes.

Voting for the by-election for Vav assembly seat was held on November 13. Counting of votes started on Saturday morning at the Government Engineering College, Jagana, Palanpur. After counting of postal ballots, EVM counting started first at 8 am. There is a triangular contest in the elections due to BJP, Congress and independent candidates. There are a total of 321 booths in 179 villages of Vav, Suigam and Bhabhar tehsils for Vav assembly seat, for which a total of 70.54 percent voting was done on November 13. Out of about 3 lakh 10 thousand and 681 voters, 2 lakh 19 thousand 266 voters had cast their vote. In this, 1 lakh 20 thousand male voters and 98 thousand 647 female voters have exercised their franchise. According to the administration, a total of 321 booths will be counted in 23 rounds in the Government Engineering College, Jagana, Palanpur. A total of more than 159 employees and officers have been deployed by the District Election Officer for counting of votes. There are 59 counting staff among them. The counting center has been equipped with CCTV cameras. 400 police personnel, CAPF, SRP personnel are deployed for security. This seat was with Congress in the state assembly elections held in the year 2022. Congress’s Geniben Thakor had defeated BJP in the assembly elections. Later, in the Lok Sabha elections held in the year 2024, Congress made Geniben Thakor its candidate from Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat, in which she was successful in winning. Banaskantha is the only seat won by Congress in the state. After this, Geniben Thakor had resigned from the membership of the Assembly, after which by-election is being held on this vacant seat.

Congress ahead in first round

In the counting of votes in Vav assembly seat, Congress candidates are leading in the counting of votes since the first round. In the first round, Congress candidate got 4190 votes, BJP candidate got 3939 votes and independent Mavjibhai Patel got 2119 votes. In this way the Congress candidate was ahead by 251 votes in the first round. After this, after the second round of counting was completed, the Congress candidate got 7802 votes, the BJP candidate got 7498 votes and the independent candidate got 4800 votes. After completion of the third round of counting, Congress candidate got 12360 votes, BJP candidate got 11187 votes and Independent candidate got 6510 votes. Till this round, Congress candidate is leading by 1173 votes. Similarly, the number of Congress candidates in the fourth round was 1410, till the fifth round 2621, till the sixth round 7610, till the seventh round 11444, till the eighth round 12665, till the ninth round 13195, till the 10th round 12407, till the 11th round 12814, till the 12th round Congress candidates are leading by 13007 votes, till the 13th round by 13007 votes, by the 14th round by 14046 votes, by the 15th round by 13499 votes.
