Virat Kohli's jersey sold: Team India star KL Rahul recently organised a 'Cricket for Charity' auction with his wife. The aim was to support the Wipla Foundation's mission of providing quality education to underprivileged children. In this auction held in Mumbai on Friday, many big names of international cricket including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma donated their priceless memorabilia for this noble cause. The highest bid was for King Kohli's jersey which sold more than Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni's bats. Virat Kohli's jersey was bought for Rs 40 lakh.
A total amount of 1.93 crores was raised in the auction. Virat Kohli's contribution was not limited to his jersey only but his gloves were also very attractive, which were sold for Rs 28 lakhs. Apart from this, Rohit Sharma's bat was also a great item which was sold for Rs 24 lakhs.
Former India and Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni created history by selling his bat in the auction. His bat was sold for Rs 13 lakh. Along with this contribution, Rahul Dravid's bat was also sold for Rs 11 lakh. KL Rahul's jersey was also sold for Rs 11 lakh.
Both Rahul and Athiya stressed that this cause is very close to our hearts as it will help in the upliftment of disabled children.
