Joe Biden on the attack on Trump: US President Joe Biden addressed the nation after the deadly attack on former President Donald Trump. He addressed the nation for about 5 minutes from the Oval Office of the White House. He said that the time has come to take the campaign for the 2024 US presidential election to full swing and I will travel across the country for this. However, in his brief address, he also mentioned the attack on Donald Trump. On the attempt to attack Trump, he said that America cannot move forward on this path. We cannot and should not go on the path of political violence at all. Such violence has no place in America.
“We cannot allow this kind of violence to become normalized,” Biden said in a prime-time national address from the Oval Office. “Our country has had a very heated political history. It needs to cool down now. I want to remind you that even though we disagree, we cannot be enemies. We are neighbors, friends, colleagues, citizens, and most of all, we are fellow Americans.”
Investigation is ongoing
Biden said in his address that the motive of the attacker is not yet known. We could not get any information about what his opinion was or whose opinion it was. We do not know whether he got help or support or whether he talked or contacted anyone else. Investigating officers are investigating the matter.
Violence is not the answer to violence
He further said that the former president was shot and an American citizen was murdered just because he exercised his freedom to support his elected candidate. We cannot do this. America cannot move forward on this path. We have seen such incidents in history. Violence can never be the answer to violence. There is no place for such violence in America. There is no exception to this, we cannot defend this violence.
Peaceful discussion necessary
Political rhetoric in this country has become quite heated. It is time to cool it down. It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that politics never becomes a battlefield. God forbid, but it should not become a land of killers. I believe that politics should be a field of peaceful discussion, justice and decision-making as per our Constitution.
Do not promote violence
Biden further said, “I have no doubt that the opposition will criticize my record at the Republican National Convention program.” I will present a different perspective for the national interest. He appealed to the citizens of the country not to promote political violence in the country and not to support those who advocate it.
