The Assam Chief Minister said that the situation in Bangladesh is a matter of concern for the northeastern states. He feared that the neighbouring country could once again become a hub of extremism and people from there could enter the region illegally.

Security beefed up in Tripura

Apart from Mizoram, Assam, security has also been beefed up in Tripura. According to the BSF director, preparations have been reviewed on the Tripura-Bangladesh border. After the unrest in Bangladesh, the BSF has started intensive checking on the 856 km long border in the state to thwart attempts of illegal entry from across the border.

Alert in Bihar

Alert mode has also been kept in Motihari of Bihar. Motihari is connected to the border of Nepal. From where there is a possibility of Bangladeshi infiltration. In this, Bihar Police has ordered to remain alert in the border districts and villages. SSB has also been kept on alert along with Police. 24-hour surveillance has been asked. Apart from this, Bangladesh has been alerted to increase accuracy on the concerned border.

The Odisha government has started monitoring its 480 km long border to stop the influx of people from Bangladesh. The state is located about 200 km from the Bangladesh coast. Illegal migrants from Bangladesh use small boats. These people enter Odisha by canoe. Due to unrest in Bangladesh, many criminals have escaped from jail. Therefore, it is important to see that such elements do not enter India. The officer said that we have kept 18 marine police stations on high alert.
