Cariz Chief Economist Rajni Sinha said, 'Emphasis will be laid on welfare schemes to increase consumption in rural areas. More allocation can be made for PM Awas Yojana Gramin, PM Gram Sadak Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and agriculture to increase employment opportunities.
Need to strengthen rural demand: Expert
Bank of Baroda economist Sonal Badhan said, 'No new measures have been announced in the interim budget, but there may be some announcements this time. Government allocation for PM Housing Scheme for both urban and rural including PM Kisan Samman Nidhi may exceed Rs lakh crore. Allocation for PM Agricultural Irrigation Scheme may increase Crisil Chief Economist Deep Deshpande said, 'Rural income and demand have declined in FY 2024. To increase this, allocation in the budget for asset creation and employment generation schemes can be increased.
More funds for schemes like MNREGA, PMAY and PM Gramin Sadak Yojana can help a large number of households that are not dependent on farming activities. However, to strengthen rural demand, measures have to be taken to protect agriculture from climate shocks and support sectors that can generate more jobs in the future.
