Villagers yearn for water if water supply from old tank is stopped without new construction

Bijnor, 04 November (HS). The construction of a new tank in village Baruki of Mohammadpur Devmal development block has not even started yet and drinking water supply from the old tank has been stopped. Due to non-construction of a new tank and closure of the old tank, villagers are yearning for pure drinking water supply. The villagers have also demanded from the Jal Nigam officials to repair the damaged India Marka hand pumps with immediate effect.

The population of Gram Sabha Baruki of Mohammadpur Devmal development block is around twelve thousand. A water tank was constructed in the village twenty years ago. About a year ago, drinking water supply from the tank was stopped on the grounds that it had expired. The construction work of the new tank has not even been started yet. Due to non-construction of a new tank and cessation of drinking water supply from the old tank, villagers are yearning for pure drinking water supply. Many Indiamarka hand pumps in the village have been lying defunct for years. The water from the hand pumps that are running is not potable due to contamination.

Former village head Abdul Majeed, regional president of Bharatiya Kisan Union Brijesh Kumar, leader of Bharatiya Kisan Union Chaudhary Brahmpal Singh etc. villagers said that the villagers are very upset due to non-construction of new tank and stoppage of supply of pure drinking water from the old tank. . Therefore, the district administration should make arrangements for pure drinking water in the village with immediate effect.
