Ballia, July 19 (HS). Heavy power cuts during the paddy transplantation and humid heat have become a problem for farmers and common consumers. Villagers connected to Basantpur Sohav power substation, troubled by power cuts, are now in a mood to fight a do-or-die battle. Chandramani Rai, president of Gadha Vikas Manch, has warned that if the power system is not improved in ten days, he will commit suicide.
Chandramani Rai, a resident of Bharouli, wrote a letter to the District Magistrate saying that in our area, electricity is supplied from Bharouli feeder and Baghauna feeder of Basantpur electricity sub-centre. For the past one month, electricity is playing hide and seek in villages like Ujiyar, Qutubpur, Saryan, Bharouli, Govindpur, Amavan, Baghauna, Tutuwari, Dularpur, Ekouni, Ramgarh etc. Electricity is not stopping for more than two to five minutes at a time.
In this regard, Executive Engineer Narendra Prakash said that a 5 KVA transformer has been installed in Basantpur Pawar House. The problem is arising due to overload. A 10 KVA transformer is to be installed there. The transformer will be replaced within a week.
