Villagers paid tribute to the brave martyrs | News India

Saharsa, 30 August (HS). Tributes were paid to the immortal martyrs of the freedom struggle of 1942 AD at Durga Sthan in Bangaon. Speakers paid tribute to the martyrs under the chairmanship of retired headmaster Vishwanath Khan and the management of Paras Kumar Jha.

While paying tribute, Suman Samaj said that under the leadership of Gandhi ji, on 29th August, 1942, teenagers and youth attacked Saharsa station in the mass movement against British rule in the whole of India. Speakers like Suman Khan Samaj, Dhananjay Kumar Jha Bhagwanji, Shashidhar Thakur, Shaktinath Mishra, Vishwanath Mishra alias Vikan Mishra, Bam Shankar Jha, Nirmal Mishra, Anjani Jha, Vivekanand Mishra, Ramchandra Chaudhary, Manoj Kumar Jha etc. told in detail about the martyrdom of martyr Pulkit Kamat, Harikant Jha Vidyarthi, Kaleshwar Mandal, Bhola Thakur, Kedarnath Tiwari, Dhiro Rai who sacrificed their lives fighting the British.

In his presidential address, Vishwanath Khan gave information about all the freedom fighters of his area in the Bialis movement. On the call of the people present, the president proposed to name Bangaon Chowk as Shahid Chowk and to build Shahid Tower in honor of the martyrs, which was passed with loud applause. Bangaon Nagar Panchayat Vice President Rupesh Kumar Kamat expressed his gratitude, saying that such a program is necessary in honor of the martyrs and assured the people present that the Nagar Panchayat will make Bangaon Chowk as Shahid Chowk.

At the end of the programme, two minutes of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs by paying homage to them by laying flowers on their picture and lighting candles. On this occasion members of Durga Navyuvak Sangh including Kamal Nath Mishra, Hem Jha, Tulur Jha, Yashwant Mishra, Jyotish Kant Mishra, Neeraj Jha, Uma Shankar Jha, Raghav were present.
