Dhamtari, 23 September (HS). Angry villagers have reached the Collectorate and raised objections against giving Sevabhoomi to the Kotwar. Sarpanch Munendra Dhruv of Gram Panchayat Hardibhatha, Gramin Adhyaksh Dulchand Netam, Rekharaj Nishad, Bhagat Ram, Ramesh Markam, Mukesh Netam and a large number of villagers reached the Collectorate office on 23 September. By submitting a memorandum, the villagers have alleged that the government land of village Chameda of Hardibhatha has been given as Sevabhoomi to the Kotwar. The Forest Department has also issued the Forest Rights Patta without the consent of the villagers. Whereas Sevabhoomi has already been given to the relatives of this Kotwar.
Government land Pahari Khasra number 16 has been allotted to the Kotwar. Whereas earlier, with the consent of the villagers, 8.94 acres of land was provided to his maternal grandfather Kotwar. After the death of the former Kotwar, the current Kotwar got the forest rights lease issued in the name of his mother and aunt. The villager said that the Kotwar has got the lease issued in his name for the second time in government land village Chameda by misleading the government and informing them that it is not service land. A complaint was made to the Nagari SDM and Tehsildar about this a year ago, but no action was taken. This has angered the villagers. The villagers have demanded the cancellation of the service land lease of Pahari Khasra number 16 reserved for minor minerals. After listening to the villagers seriously, the officer has assured appropriate action.
