Vikram Rathore

Antigua, June 22 (HS). Ahead of his team's match against Bangladesh in the Super Four of the T20 World Cup 2024, India's batting coach Vikram Rathore said that the pitch at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium could assist the spinners.

India will enter this match after defeating Afghanistan by 47 runs in their last Super Eight match. On the other hand, Bangladesh faced defeat by 28 runs in their first Super Eight match.

In the pre-match press conference, Rathore said that Bangladesh players are good in certain conditions. India's batting coach admitted that the conditions in North Sound will be slightly favorable for the Tigers. He said that every team is tough in the T20 format.

Rathore said, “They are a good team. They have many players who can bowl spin and they are good in certain conditions. And I think these conditions are somewhat favorable for them as a team, because the wicket is a bit helpful for spinners and they have spinners in their team. But again, in this format, I think every team is a tough team.”

Rathore said he expects a good pitch at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Saturday.

He said, “I think we have already played in the worst conditions in New York, so whatever happens after that feels good. It felt great today as well. So, I hope the wickets will be better. I mean it won't be as challenging for us as New York. And then, I think we as a team, as a batting unit, are ready to deal with any situation that comes our way.”

India will be aiming to end their ICC trophy drought since the 2013 Champions Trophy and win their first T20 World Cup since the inaugural edition in 2007 in South Africa. The Men in Blue had a stellar outing in the group stage of the marquee event and topped the Group A table with seven points.
